Custom Aluminum Flange Machining
Aluminum flanges are critical connecting components used extensively across modern manufacturing sectors. Their role is deceptively simple-joining pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment into a sealed, integrated system-yet their performance requirements demand exceptional precision. Classifications by Structure and Function
Custom aluminum flanges can be categorized along several axes, with structural design being the most fundamental. Weld-neck flanges feature a long tapered hub that is butt-welded to the pipe, providing excellent stress distribution and making them ideal for high-pressure orhigh-temperature applications. Slip-on flanges, by contrast, slide over the pipe end and arefillet-welded both inside and outside, offering cost-effective installation where internal flow conditions are less demanding.
Threaded flanges are machined with internal threads that match the external threads of the pipe, enabling a weld-free assembly. This classification is particularly valuable in systems where welding is impractical or hazardous, such as in certain chemical processing lines.
Lap-joint flanges are used in conjunction with stub-end fittings and are designed for systems requiring frequent dismantling for inspection or cleaning. The flange itself does not contact the process fluid directly, allowing it to be made from a less expensive material while the stub-end handles corrosion resistance.
